Navatheeram is for children and young adults with mental retardation in Kerala. It is an vocational/supported employment program for them under the supervision of NAVAJYOTHI, a charitable trust that serves people with developmental disabilities in India.Navatheeram centers operate in the remotest villages of all districts in Kerala. They prepare the children and young adults with mental retardation to productive employment. Navatheerams enhance adaptive skills of children and adults, address issues of lack of education, poor health,loss of rights and choice, abuse and neglect, and their financial instability. Navatheerams seek their independence and growth through empowerment projects to enable them to be true citizens of India.
